Watching your family member struggle with the symptoms of memory loss can be painful.  As time goes on, families tend to lose contact with friends and miss outings in the community.

Yet as we learn more about the disorders that cause memory loss, we are finding that maintaining structure and human contact is an essential part of life for individuals and their families.  Now Family Health Care has a way for you to receive the support and services you both need.

Oakwood Generations, is a congregate day program that provides opportunities for social interaction and activities for individuals with memory disorders while giving family members valuable respite time.

Participants Thoughts

Everett says, "It's a good way to meet new people."

Devere says, "It gives my wife time to herself."

" I like being with people and not being home alone," said another participant.

Others in the program said it gives them something to do.

The program coordinator who facilitates the projects said, " This program offers help for those who may not be able to help themselves."

Spend Your Day Having Fun

A typical day at Oakwood Generations is stimulating and fun. Your loved one can work on an art project, enjoy indoor bowling, and participate in a non-strenuous exercise program.  Participants may browse through books, talk about news articles, or simply listen to music together.  And all in the comfort and ease of a facility designed with a spacious, open living environment in mind.

Group & In-Home Respite Care

Caring for someone who can not take care of themselves, or is suffering from memory loss and/or other symptoms of dementia can take all of your time and energy. Many of the tasks and joys of  your daily life gets lost in the shuffle.

This is why Family Health Care offers Respite Care.  Our specially trained volunteers can step in and be there for your loved one, and give you precious time to care for yourself. While our volunteers are taking care of your loved one you can shop, run errands, or just relax.
