About Me
What I love about my job is being able to share mental wellness and support with people who otherwise may not be getting the behavioral health support they need. I love talking to patients and learning their stories. I want people to understand that my approach is about treating the whole person in a solution-focused and patient-centered way.
Professional Background
I graduated cum laude with my bachelor’s degree in english and social work from Radford University in 2002. I graduated with honors and my master’s degree in counseling psychology and education in 2008. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Certified in Trauma-focused therapy (CBT-TF) and Play Therapy. My field of interest is working with children and people recover from traumatic events.
I wish that I could tell every patient to take good care of themselves and to treat their mental and emotional health with the same attention and importance that they do their physical health. Making time for yourself is okay. All of us have times in our lives where we need a little extra support and encouragement; it takes real strength to admit that you need help.
Life Outside of the Practice
A fun fact about me is that I grew up in California. When I’m not at work, I enjoy reading a good book or hanging out with my super awesome daughters who are my pride and joy.
