Expanding, Enhancing Emotional Health (E3) is a school-based program providing comprehensive, on-site mental health services.
Behavioral Health Care
Behavioral Health Therapist provides behavioral and emotional therapy and counseling for mild to moderate conditions.
Physical Environment
Youth-friendly, barrier-free, clean, and safe spaces located in elementary, middle, high, or alternative schools.
Funding
Funding for the provider and program oversight are provided by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services through Family Health Care.
Integration into the School Community
Parents don’t need to leave work to take their children to the counselor. With signed consent, your child will be seen right at school.
E3 Providers are

Are licensed master’s level mental health provider
(LMSW, LLMSW, LPC, LLPC, LMFT, LLMFT) - Provide comprehensive mental health services - individually or in groups
- Offer classroom education related to mental health (Depression and Suicide Prevention)
- Assist the school with crisis intervention
- Work in partnership with school and community resources
E3 Providers are not
- Replacing School Social Work Services involving IEPs
- Guidance Counselors focusing on Academic Supports
- Behavioral Interventionist responding to behavioral concerns in the classroom
- Restorative Practitioners
- Disciplinarians or Administrators
- The “Fix it” staff
- School-based employees
Who can access the E3 program?
- Only patients aged 5-21 or through 26 if enrolled in special education.
- Only students whose parent/guardian has signed a consent form.
