I am a small town girl at heart. I was born and raised in West Michigan and now live just outside McBain. I love working in family practice. I see newborns, the elderly and everyone in between. Patients have said that seeing me is like having coffee with a good friend who listens and cares about you, your children and your parents. If you are looking for a new health care provider for you and/or your children, schedule an appointment and see for yourself the difference a caring provider who listens to you can make! You won’t be disappointed.
For a small town girl, it may be surprising that I did most of my training in the big cities. I received my doctorate at Rush University in Chicago. My family nurse practitioner training was completed at Columbia University in New York City. My undergraduate and graduate work was at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. My heart, however, remained in west and northern Michigan; so early in my career I returned “home” to practice the profession that I love! I am board certified, on the faculty at Michigan State University and committed to keeping up with the most current practice standards in family medicine while valuing the tried and true that comes with experience.
“Let’s work together to eat healthier, move more and reduce stress, and see how much better you can feel.”
In addition to being a family nurse practitioner, I am also a wife and mother. My family includes adopted, biological and foster children. I have authored a series of children’s books based on our real-life experiences of being a mixed-race family created through adoption. Self-care for me includes prioritizing time with close friends and family, walking our dog with my husband, kayaking down the Clam River, hiking with girlfriends, cheering at my kids’ sporting events and reading fiction. Self-care for me does NOT involve shopping, iPhones or open water swimming, thus on my days off I avoid buying groceries, my phone is often missing (unless I am on-call!) and I will never attempt another triathlon-ever.
