BALDWIN, Mich. — Melissa Terrill, electronic health records (EHR) support manager for Family Health Care, has received the Distinguished Service Award from the Michigan Primary Care Association (MPCA), recognizing her outstanding contributions to health center operations, technology and patient care.

The MPCA Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to individuals or teams who have made significant contributions to the success and impact of a community health center or Michigan’s broader health center community.

Terrill, who joined Family Health Care in 2007, has played an instrumental role in strengthening the organization’s technology infrastructure, improving clinical workflows and supporting the delivery of quality health care across its clinics.

“Melissa’s dedication, expertise and commitment to excellence have made an extraordinary difference at Family Health Care,” said Travis Sander, chief information officer. “While much of her work happens behind the scenes, its impact is felt every day by our providers, staff and patients. Her ability to connect technology with patient care makes her an invaluable member of our team and truly deserving of this recognition.”

Throughout her nearly 20-year career with Family Health Care, Terrill has demonstrated exceptional leadership in managing and improving the organization’s electronic health records systems.

Beyond managing critical clinical technology, Terrill oversees the organization’s patient interaction platform, which supports patient communications, appointment reminders and outreach campaigns. Her work helps strengthen patient engagement and ensures patients receive timely information about their health care.

Terrill also plays a key role in training and onboarding employees, managing system access and compliance audits, and identifying software improvements and security updates that enhance operational efficiency and reliability.

“Technology plays an essential role in delivering quality, accessible health care, and Melissa understands that every system improvement ultimately benefits the patients and communities we serve,” said Sander. “Her institutional knowledge, problem-solving abilities and willingness to support others exemplify the spirit of this award.”

The recognition reflects Terrill’s longstanding commitment to Family Health Care’s mission and her ability to bridge the gap between technology and frontline patient care.
